Animal Shelter
Location: At the end of Meridian Street
General Proposal
- The Town of Cornelius is proposing to construct a 4,258 square foot animal shelter. This civic use requires a Conditional Use Permit within the Neighborhood Residential zoning district.
- The site will have fenced in play areas for both small and large dogs.
- There will be no outdoor kennels.
- The building site is limited because of two abandoned septic tanks buried in the southeast corner of the property and 35’ SWIM buffers located along the eastern and western perimeters of the property.
- The Town of Cornelius is also proposing to relocate the existing sanitary sewer pipe to allow for future expansion of the building towards the rear. This sewer line relocation will have to be approved by CMU.
